Gallery

The Gallery is the digital home of my photography, organized into four working genres: Americana, Animals, Landscapes, and Seascapes. Each one reflects how I see the world through the lens and why I keep going back into the field with a camera in hand. mkhurder

Gallery Genres:

Americana is where memory, history, and everyday life meet. I look for small-town streets, flags moving in a light breeze, old trucks, barns, and details that speak to the character of this country without needing a caption. My goal is to show familiar scenes in a way that makes you pause and remember where you were the first time you saw something like it.mkhurder

Animals is built on patience and respect. Whether it is a bird in flight, a dog at rest, or wildlife moving through its own territory, I work to let the animal set the pace while I manage light, shutter speed, and composition around it. I prefer to capture behavior and personality rather than just a record shot, so many of these images grow out of quiet observation and waiting for that one clean moment.mkhurder

Landscapes are my way of slowing time down. I pay close attention to weather, season, and the quality of light at the edges of the day—those brief minutes when a scene changes from ordinary to something worth framing. I build each frame around strong lines, balance, and a sense of depth so you can almost feel the air and step into the scene yourself.mkhurder

Seascapes combine motion and mood. Working along the coast, I balance shutter speed against the movement of water to decide whether to freeze the waves in sharp detail or soften them into a more painterly flow. Tide charts, clouds, and wind all matter here, and I use them to shape images that carry the sound and energy of the shoreline even in silence.mkhurder

Across all four genres, the process is the same: be present, respect the subject, and do the work in the field so only minimal refinement is needed later. I invite you to explore, linger where an image speaks to you, and come back often – this gallery will continue to grow as I do.mkhurder
