Sycamore Grove - 2019

Another fantastically picturesque park in Livermore is Sycamore Grove. I don't spend as much time here as I'd like. They don't allow the dogs to be off-leash and there's no way I can shoot and hold onto the two dynamos, Kitty and Shea. So my time here is limited to when I've already taken the hounds for their walk and I still have energy left for a shoot. Still, that's just fine...

Sycamore Grove #2

The eastern end of Sycamore Grove is across from the Wente Winery and just below the VA hospital grounds. There happens to be a Heron Rookery in the tall trees. There are a huge # of turkeys in the area. A vulture and a woodpecker were watching me. In the end, there's a bit of Heron's passion...

Sycamore Grove #1

This shoot was in February and it was a bit chilly. The first shot shows a "room to let". I waited a while to see if the tenants would come home to no avail. I caught a few songbirds, a jay, a woodpecker, and my first ever Owl in the wild. I tried to wake him up so I could see those huge golden eyes, but nope. SNOOOOORE! I love the deadwood in the area and the Sycamores make for a wonderful contrast when bare of leaves. The hills are a treat anytime especially when snow-capped. I also found a squirrel or two, a bull, and some cows.
