Aside from the wondrous pictures from up top, we also stopped at a nice swim spot on the way into the park and I couldn’t NOT take one of Yosemite falls from down below.
Romancing Yosemite
High Above Yosemite at Glacier Point
In May of 2015, a truly special family journey brought us to Yosemite National Park to celebrate my youngest son Dylan proposing to his honey, Liz. While the personal proposal images from Glacier Point remain private family treasures, stepping onto that iconic granite ledge makes taking photos practically magnetic, even with a basic Lumix point and shoot camera in hand.
The sweeping panoramas from Glacier Point offer some of the most breathtaking views on Earth. Looking out across the vast granite landscape, Half Dome stands as a massive, commanding centerpiece above the valley floor. Down below, the sheer drop opens into incredible views of Yosemite Falls plunging down sheer granite faces, framed by distant snow-dusted peaks along the horizon. Farther along the trail routes, informational plaques detail the rich geological story of the region, explaining how ancient glaciers carved these dramatic cliffs.
The day also offered quiet moments along the water before heading up to the higher elevations. Stopping by the sunlit creek pools provided a relaxing backdrop, where calm waterfalls cascaded into natural swimming holes surrounded by warm rocks and lush trees.
Even without high-end, serious imaging gear, capturing these frames on a simple camera locked in a time and place filled with pure joy. The soft May light, dramatic mountain silhouettes, and sheer scale of Yosemite created the perfect setting for a milestone our family will always cherish.
Conclusion & Perspective
Looking back at these photos from May 2015 brings back all the warmth and awe of that beautiful spring day in Yosemite. Beyond the majestic views of Half Dome and roaring waterfalls, 03Sept-Photo Story serves as a wonderful reminder that the best photographs are those tied to unforgettable family moments, regardless of the camera used to capture them.
